October 15, 2001: The Ottawa Sun column by Susan Sherring for October 15, 2001, sang the praises of HH under the headline "New spirit of co-operation." Click here to read a copy of the article. October 13, 2001: CJOH showcased 25 volunteers from EDS corporation who spent their Saturday helping to get the house ready for the Grand Opening on October 25th. The story was broadcast during both the evening and late night news. October 8, 2001: CJOH-TV was in the House to tape footage that was played on the 6:00 pm news as part of a feature about volunteerism. The piece included comments by Keenan Wellar, one of the HH founders, as well as video of the lobby, the Heartwood Gallery, and Project 301, Phase II. May 11, 2001: A coalition of groups known as the Heartwood House Community Collaborative was awarded $25,000 over six months by the Ontario Trillium Foundation to "create a collective of organizations to share a location and resources."
